About Mikka
"I am honored and inspired to be part of other’s lives when they choose to commit themselves to a partnership and journey in life together. Life is a roller coaster ride but when you face it with someone you love and trust you can conquer the valleys and celebrate the peaks. I am excited to be a part of people’s lives at the moment they begin their life journey together."
I am a mother, a wife, an entrepreneur, Human Resources professional, life coach and motivational speaker! My life is busy and I wear many hats but my passion is being there for others when they need me most. I have my degree from Purdue University in Organizational Psychology with a minor in Child Psychology. I love meeting and getting to know people of all walks of life and backgrounds. My curiosity and my psychology background have made me an observer of people and life.
I reside in Indianapolis with my husband of 17 years and my two children, ages 11 and 14. Both of my children have special needs, one with autism and the other with a medical condition called RSD. Each and every day has new challenges and great accomplishments. I have amazing children that persevere in the face of adversity and couldn’t be any prouder. I have been a Human Resources Executive and have over 20 years experience. The last 5 years I focused on performance improvement and leadership coaching. A year ago, life handed us a “valley” when my son was hospitalized for a couple of weeks. This experience led me to make some life changing decisions. I have come to appreciate each day and each moment. I work hard to live in the present and enjoy life more. I also walked away from a full time career so I could focus more on being present for my family. My life motto is “I may be changed by what life hands me, but I refuse to be reduced by it”.
I am currently working part time as a Human Resources professional and have a personal and leadership development business, helping others bring positive information and thoughts to their lives. I am an advocate for Autism Awareness and support families that may be struggling with diagnosis and resources. I volunteer my time to almost any person needing some life coaching whether it is a work struggle, a job search or a family in crisis. When life handed us challenges, I chose to not keep our struggles a secret so others would know they were not alone. This has led me to writing my first book about a mother’s emotional journey with a special needs child. I speak on a variety of personal and leadership development topics to women’s networking organizations and hope to continue to stand on as many stages as possible to help others be inspired.
