Welcome and Introduction
Thank you for coming to celebrate this wonderful occasion, and to witness the love which Sarah and Alex have for one another.
Whether you're friends or family, we are all here as one to watch Sarah and Alex's public commitment to share their lives and accept each other completely; to learn how to help and understand each other; and together, travel through life.
As many of you already know, Alex introduced Sarah to his passion for sports almost 6 years ago when they started dating, and together have enjoyed all that sports have to offer. Because of this, they already know a lot about marriage. Soccer, baseball, and marriage aren’t all that different! They can be loads of fun, and yet require a lot of hard work, a lot of learning, analyzing mistakes and starting over. Every day is a new and exciting game. A good game, and a good marriage – don’t just happen. It takes love to get started, and sheer determination to make it through. And in spite of all the hitting of balls, and clashing about goals, it is a wonderful experience with which we grow and fulfill an important part of who we are and who we become. For every miss at bat, there is a homerun, for every offside, there is a beautifully executed goal. Sarah and Alex have visited the homes of countless sports teams over the past 6 years. Now they will build their own home team. Will it be a basketball team of 5? A baseball team of 9? A soccer team of 11? Only time will tell.
You are all here today because Sarah and Alex know that you will always be their friend, and that you will always support and encourage them no matter what happens. You are here as fans, coaches and team members. Always by their side to embrace both of them and support them on their journey through life together.
