Places For Small Wedding and Elopement Ceremonies
Looking for a special place for an elopement or a small wedding? There are several places in the Indy area that I love. Not all of these are free to use and it’s best to call ahead to make sure it’s OK to use the spot on your day or arrange to reserve it. These are just a few recommendations for picturesque places to elope in the Indy area. Some places are just pretty for a wedding, other places allow you to have a picnic or BBQ that can make for a total, low cost wedding. I consider these small weddings when booking and the rate is $150.
Kawachinagano Japanese Gardens, Carmel, IN
Kawachinagano Japanese Gardens are located at 1 Civic Square in Carmel. It is between Carmel Town Hall and the Monon Trail. Contact Carmel Clay Parks for more information about using the area. Stopping by for a quick elopement or a photo shoot is usually very easy. There is a picnic shelter with tables. The event gazebo in Carmel is on the other side of Carmel Town Hall.
Garfield Park Conservatory, Indianapolis
Garfield Park Conservatory is located in Garfield Park on the south side of Indianapolis It’s an indoor garden so it’s always lovely for pictures. They rent out their waterfall area for weddings for up to 20 people with standing room only. The price starts at $295 with more expensive options for more people. Indiana State House
The Indiana State House is a beautiful building! It's open to the public for tours Monday-Saturday from 8-5. They also rent out the facilities after hours for formal weddings so keep that in mind if you are looking for a place to hold your larger ceremony. We do elopements here and photographers use it for photo sessions at no extra cost. Always call ahead to make sure they will be open and quiet the day you want to get married. They can close the building to the public at any time so better to call ahead to be sure. The building is use for state business and there are people working there so keep that in mind if you want to get married here. Proper decorum is essential. Holiday Park, Meridian Hills, Indianapolis
Holiday Park in Meridian Hills is a beautiful. It's got an amazing play area for kids, a well groomed nature walk and gardens and ruins that make a gorgeous backdrop for a wedding. The main ruins have been renovated and are rented for large, formal wedding but they are still free to use for quick elopements and photo sessions. They also have indoor facilities if you are looking to rent a room at a low rate in their nature center if the weather is not cooperating. Contact the park for more details.
Eagle Creek State Park, Indianapolis
Lily Lake at Eagle Creek State Park is a beautiful area for an outdoor wedding with or without a BBQ. The ares around Ornithology Center also have picturesque spots for an elopement. You can contact them directly for rental information. Always recommend taking a walk to find perfect spot for you.
Potters Bridge Noblesville, IN
Potters Bridge is located in Noblesville. Its most easily accessed by following IN 37 North past 191st Street to Allisonville Road. The covered bridge is beautiful but there are also overlooks and picnic shelters that make for lovely spots for picnics and pictures too. For more information click here.
