Who Are We?

We are Professional Wedding Officiants. Victoria and Peter Meyer. We are online-ordained ministers, which gives us the power to legally sign marriage licenses and marry couples in Indiana. We’ve signed around 7500 marriage licenses.  We are legal!

What Do We Do?

In our office, we perform Courthouse/Justice of the Peace-Style Civil Ceremonies, but we are not a Justice of the Peace. Just because we are ordained ministers does not mean we perform religious ceremonies.

We only perform non-religious ceremonies in our office or as part of our mobile civil ceremony services.  You can book an elopement, small wedding, or formal wedding ceremony with Victoria, and she is happy to perform all types of ceremonies, from completely non-religious to interdenominational ceremonies.  Peter only performs non-religious ceremonies.  Most, if not almost all, of the wedding ceremonies we perform, are non-religious.

What is a Civil Ceremony?

A civil ceremony is a short, non-religious ceremony.  In its most basic form, we sign your marriage license, and you verbally consent to the marriage.  You say, “I Do,” when asked, “Do you take this person to be your husband/wife/spouse/partner.”

What is the difference between a 30 and 60 minute appointment?

There is no difference in services.  We offer appointments every 30 minutes, and some days couples can be lined up waiting to get married.  If you are late, you might not have enough time to take pictures or have the ceremony you want. Most people know themselves and the people they invite to witness their ceremony.  If you KNOW you are going to run late, book a full hour and don’t worry about it.  If you are a few minutes late or want more time to take pictures, you have enough time.  I married a couple a few weeks ago that booked the full hour. They had littles and were 20 minutes late. With kids, they knew they would be! They still had plenty of time to get married, and their photographer got great pictures!

What is included in your civil ceremony service?

This is a basic civil ceremony service. Some people call it a 'signature service' because you are just signing the marriage license.  It's nothing fancy.  Many couples do just sign and go and that's perfectly fine!  But, we are also very happy to make it a little nicer for you with a proper romantic and fun elopement!

After we sign your marriage license, we can perform a short and sweet non-religious ceremony.  You can exchange vows and rings - or not - rings aren't required. You can write your own vows or we'll use traditional vows. (No 'obey' included.)
Peter and Victoria each have their own go-to ceremony they perform, but we are open to what you want.

Then, you can take pictures!  Use our flower wall, signs off of our sign wall, or just pictures of the two of you and your guests.  you are welcome to bring a photographer!  Often, with larger groups, everyone is standing with their phones taking pictures while you get married.  I can take pictures with your phone, or I can take them with mine and text them to you.

If you book an appointment for $150 or more and your marriage license was issued by the Marion County Clerk, I'm happy to return the license for you and mail you 2 certified copies.  I return licenses every Monday in person.
$100 appointments are available during hours the clerk is open, so it's easier for you to walk down and return it yourself right after you are married.

Can you walk me through the process?

Our office is set up for a wedding.  It is supposed to be easy and fun.   We have a large pink flower wall you can use as a backdrop for your ceremony and pictures, and we have a wall full of signs you can hold while getting your picture taken.   We created it so you can have a photo booth opportunity if you want.  We can take pictures with your phone or ours and text them to you.  You are welcome to have a photographer come with you, or your witnesses are welcome to take pictures.

Our office is located in an office building in a co-working space. We have an amazing 9th-floor view of Monument Circle!

We overlook Monument Circle.

What do we wear?
Please arrive ready to get married.  Most couples come in casual clothes, but some choose to get dressed up.  We do not have a changing area, so please come ready
Bring your marriage license.
You need to obtain your own marriage license and bring it with you.  Make sure to bring the whole packet the clerk gives you to make sure you have the correct certified marriage license the clerk issued you.  We can’t marry you without a marriage license.  The point of the civil ceremony is to sign the license.

Where are you?  How do we get to you?
You enter our building - Circle Tower - from our main door at 5 East Market Street.  The building is open Monday-Friday from 8:30 am - 5 pm.  During those hours, you can walk into the building and take the elevator to the 9th floor. We are in Suite 922.

If you have an appointment when the building is closed, text when you arrive, and we will come downstairs, let you in, and escort you to our office.  If you have people coming with you, you all need to arrive at the same time.  The elevator needs a key to get to our floor when the building is closed.

Directions
Sign your marriage license.
When you enter our office, usually, the first thing couples do is check out the view!  Then, we then sit at a desk and complete your marriage license.

I will fill out the marriage license, and we will all sign it together.
Have a ceremony and get married.
After you sign the marriage license, we are legally obligated to have a “ceremony.”

Many couples just say their “I do’s” while they are getting their picture taken, holding the ‘Just Married’ or ‘We Eloped!’ sign.

We also perform wedding ceremonies!  We perform short, sweet, non-religious ceremonies.  You can exchange your own vows you’ve written - or we use traditional vows.  You are welcome to exchange rings, but they are not required.  You can have all the feels!!  Or not, it’s up to you!
How long does it take?
This whole process takes about 15-20 minutes. Often, it takes less time than that.  Some couples are in and out within 5 minutes because they just need to get the legal paperwork and move on.

Can we get married outside on Monument Circle?

Picture
Picture

Yes!  If the weather is nice, we are happy to marry you outside!  We usually meet in the office to sign the marriage license, then we go outside and perform a ceremony.

Do we need a witness?

No.  No witnesses are required to be legally married in Indiana.  You can come, just the two of you, and elope in secret.

You are welcome to bring witnesses with you.  We have room for 6 witnesses seated and 8 witnesses standing.

It’s a small office, and the wedding is informal.  We usually gather around the couple, perform the ceremony and take lots of pictures.

When are we available to perform Civil Ceremonies?

We are available every day by appointment.  Our regular business hours are:

Monday-Saturday from 8 am - 8 pm.
Sundays, we are available from 10 am - 6 pm.

Can we just walk into your office and get married?

If we are in our office, you are welcome to come in and get married. We are not always in our office, so call or text first.
We welcome couples to walk into our office for a quick civil ceremony on Fridays from 8:30 am - 5 pm.  You can still make appointments on Friday if you want to get married at a specific time.

Do you provide same-day weddings?

I want to make it clear that there is a business across the street from ours called “Same Day Weddings.”  They have the term trademarked.  But as a way of describing having immediate appointments available to get married today, all the wedding officiants in the area use the term “Same Day” on their websites so search engines will find our websites and present our services to you for consideration. On most weekdays, the owners of Same Day Weddings are available for immediate weddings.  To my knowledge, they are a cash-only business, and they do not set appointments. True to their name, they offer a convenient, same-day wedding.

Our business is mainly run on a by-appointment basis. However, many couples make appointments in the morning to get married in the afternoon. I often wake up to appointments on my phone that were scheduled overnight for that day.  If we are in the office, you are welcome to walk right in.  Our online scheduling app will allow you to book an appointment up to 2 hours before any appointment time.  (You can also book an appointment for a civil ceremony in our office up to 90 days in advance.) That gives us 2 hours to get to our office if we are not already there.  Appointments are booked online, and payment is due when you book.  If you have not paid, you do not have an appointment, and we do not guarantee to be in the office. If you walk into the office when we are available, you are welcome to pay cash.

Where are we located?

Our office is located in Circle Tower.  Our office is on the 9th floor is Suite 922.  We have an amazing view overlooking Monument Circle.  We are two blocks from the City-County Building, where the Marion County Clerk issues marriage licenses.

Directions to our office

Our office is located in Circle Tower on Monument Circle.  The address to our entrance is 5 East Market Street. There is a green and gold arch marked  “Circle Tower”  with gold-trimmed doors. We are inside an office building so “Marry Me In Indy” is not marked on the outside of the building.  The entrance is right next to Small Batch Soups and directly across the street from the Chase ATM.  Enter the lobby and take the elevator to the 9th floor.  We are in Suite 922.

Use this address in your GPS:
5 East Market Street
Indianapolis, IN 46204

Do you have parking?

No, our building does not have a garage or a parking lot.  You will need to find your own parking - either on the street or in a garage.

If you are coming from the Marion County Clerk you can walk.  If you are already parked near the City-County Building.  Stay parked.  We are literally 2 blocks away.

If our marriage license was issued in another county, can we still get married in your office?

Yes.  If you are an Indiana resident, you must obtain your marriage license from your county clerk.  Then you can get married anywhere in Indiana.

What happens with the marriage license after we're married?

Your marriage license needs to be returned to the clerk that issued it within 30 days after your wedding.  Anyone can return a marriage license and you do not need to go together.  It can be mailed. You NEED to return the marriage license in order to have your marriage officially recorded into the system as legally married. You will need to obtain a certified copy of your marriage license to prove you are married.

Can we bring a cake and champagne?

Please do not bring food or drink - other than water or coffee.  Our office is used to perform simple wedding ceremonies, not a wedding venue.

Can we bring our dog?

No.  We’re happy to marry you outside with your dog, but only legitimate service animals are allowed in the building. We often marry couples in the park with their dog!!

We can come to you!  If you don't want to come downtown to get married, we are happy to bring our civil ceremony services to you!
