How to Get Legally Married In Indy?

How do I get married?  That's a good question!  If you've never been married before, or it's been a while, things may have changed.  Here is a quick rundown of answers.  Our website is filled with information, hopefully, this will help point you in the right direction to find your answers.
  1. You need to obtain a marriage license from your county clerk
  2. You need an officiant to marry you - that's what we do!
  3. You may need a place to get married - because you can do that at your clerk's office/courthouse anymore.
  4. You need to return your marriage license to the clerk.
~~~~~~~~~~
You need someone to perform your wedding.
You need a Wedding Officiant.
A Wedding Officiant is a person who can legally marry you.  We are wedding officiants.  We sign your marriage license and perform your wedding ceremony. This is what we do.
We are full-time, professional wedding officiants available just about every day to marry you.
We've been performing wedding for 15 years and married thousands of couples!
~~~~~~~~~~
You need a place to get married.
They no longer perform marriages in courthouses in Indiana.  Judges, magistrates, and Justice's of the Peace are legally allowed to marry you, but they no longer provide those services in the courtrooms.  So you will need to a place to get married and an officiant to marry you.

We have an office in Tower on Monument Circle in Downtown Indianapolis. Our office is just 2 blocks from the Marion County Clerk's office, so you can pick up your marriage license, walk to our office, get married, and go back to the clerk's office.  Our office is quick, easy, and convenient.

If you are planning a more formal wedding, we can travel to the location where you are getting married. We provide wedding officiant services for formal and informal weddings at your location.  Like a venue, your home, public park, etc...  You plan your wedding at your location and then you hire us to come there and marry you. We don't provide any other locations but our office.

A simple marriage is sometimes nothing more than just signing your license so you can be legally married.  This can happen just about anywhere.  We have a clipboard and we travel!

Legally, you have 30 days to return the marriage license to the clerk that issued you your marriage license.
You are not legally married until you return the license to the clerk and file it.
You will need a certified copy of your marriage license from the clerk to prove you are married.

Anyone can return a marriage license.
You do not have to go together.
You can return a marriage license by mail.

If your marriage license was issued by the Marion County Clerk, we have a marriage license return service for an additional $20.
~~~~~~~~~~
No witnesses are required to be legally married in Indiana.
This means you can get married alone - even in secret
~~~~~~~~~~

There is no waiting period.

We provide a walk-in civil ceremony service on days the clerk is open and issuing marriage licenses. You can literally do it all in one day.
~~~~~~~~~~
You have to get your marriage license in the county you live in, then you can use that marriage license to get married anywhere in Indiana. If you live in different counties - you can go to either county.
If you are not an Indiana resident, you must obtain your marriage license in the county you are being married. Our office is in Marion County - Indianapolis.
Diversity Statement
Marry Me In Indy celebrates the diversity of the human race. We are open to marrying anyone. Every race, creed, skin color, nationality, sexual orientation, or neuro-diversity. All are welcome here!  Our goal is to meet each couple where they are and help them have a positive wedding experience. We approach every wedding with an open mind - We don’t know anything about you until you tell us, and that’s only if you choose to tell us. Wedding ceremony scripts have been written for years for brides and grooms. Some couples are choosing to forego traditional gender roles altogether and are using the terms spouse or partner. If you have made the choice to use non-traditional pronouns, please let me know, and we will be happy to honor your preferences.   Any wedding ceremony script can be changed to reflect your personal preferences. The only second language we speak is German, but we do our best to communicate with everyone.
