Prison Wedding Officiant Services In Indiana
I have performed marriages in several correctional facilities throughout Indiana. I have found that every facility has their own set of policies and procedures they follow. You and your partner must communicate directly with the people within the facility.
I have no control over how things work in the facility where your wedding will be. Everything has to be done in accordance with the policies of the prison. I'm the last person to call once everything else is approved and scheduled.
If you are having a non-contact/video chat wedding - those take place at the correctional facility with an authorized person taking the license to the prisoner to be signed. Virtual weddings are not legal in Indiana. I will communicate with the proper authorities at the prison or jail to make sure everything we are doing is in line with their policies and procedures. There are some facilities that do not allow marriages at all. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about that.
I usually need to go through a background check and sometimes get on the prisoner’s visitor list. This takes time. So please plan ahead. I am already on the approved list in some facilities.
I'm an online ordained minister legally qualified to officiate weddings in Indiana. I am not a pastor or minister that does any sort of prison ministry. Please do not contact me to try and act on your behalf as a member of the clergy. This is not something I am qualified to do.
BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING, CONTACT THE COUNTY CLERK TO MAKE SURE THEY WILL ISSUE THE LICENSE.
Not every county clerk will issue a marriage license if one partner is unable to appear in person to apply for their license - this includes if you are incarcerated. I have no control over that. Please check with your county clerk and/or the county clerk where the prison is located before you do anything else to make sure a legal marriage is even possible. It is up to the discretion of each individual county clerk as to who they will issue a marriage license to and how they will do it.
The prison may approve your marriage but they cannot make the county clerk issue you a license.
I do not accept calls from prisoners. I do not provide any sort of marital counseling.
My prices start at $150. The price is based on the location of the prison and the time of the wedding. I realize that I am only performing a very short ceremony, maybe even a virtual ceremony, But if I have to be at the facility at 7:30 AM and need 3 hours to get there, I need to charge for that time.
Plainfield and Pendleton Correctional Facility - $150
Putnamville Correctional Facility - $250
Wabash Correctional Facility - $350
If you are planning a wedding in a different facility, please contact me directly for a price.
