Romantic Elopement Ceremony 2

12/13/2022

Romantic Elopement 2

This has been the most popular script in the past 6 months.  Not every couple chooses an elopement ceremony script - they just let me do it - but, when they choose, it's usually this one.  It's short, sweet, and to the point and is a great updated version of a basic civil ceremony with more modern and romantic sentiments.  You are welcome to change out the vows, ring meanings, and ring exchanges to better express your relationship.  Links are at the bottom!

Welcome to this day of celebration. It is a wonderful day to gather here to witness the union of Name and Name. Together, they have built an amazing life. Today, we share with joy, their decision to keep building an even more amazing life as a married couple.

Name, do you take Name, to live together in the union of marriage? To take her/him/them as your best friend and partner in life? To honor, cherish, and love her/him/them, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, for all of your days?

Name: I do.

Name, do you take Name to live together in the union of marriage? To take her/him/them as your best friend and partner in life? To honor, cherish, and love her/him/them, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, for all of your days?

Name: I do.

Exchange of Rings

The wedding ring's circular shape reflects the unending power of love – a force with no beginning and no end. You should wear these rings proudly and let them remind you each day of your commitment to one another.

Name, as you place the ring on Name's finger, please repeat after me:

I, Name, give you Name, this ring as a symbol of my love. As I place it on your finger, I commit the whole of my heart and soul to you. I promise to cherish you for the rest of my days. I give you all that I am and accept all that you are.

Name, as you place the ring on Name's finger, please repeat after me:

I, Name, give you Name this ring as a symbol of my love. As I place it on your finger, I commit the whole of my heart and soul to you. I promise to cherish you for the rest of my days. I give you all that I am and accept all that you are.

The two of you came here today to affirm your love for one another and formally acknowledge that which your hearts already knew...
That your lives are meant to be shared as one, that you are stronger together than you are apart, and that, for all your days yet to come, you wish to share together all life's joys and challenges, committed one to the other.  Go forward knowing that you have chosen and been chosen.  You walk not alone through life.

By the power vested in me by the state of Indiana, I am pleased to pronounce you married, sealed together today, both in law and in love.

You may seal this marriage with a kiss!
You may kiss your bride/groom!
You don't have to kiss at all!

Diversity Statement
We are open to marrying any couple. It is our goal to meet each couple where they are and help them to have a positive wedding experience.  In order to meet you where you are, we approach every wedding with an open mind - we don’t know anything about you until you tell us and that’s only if you choose to tell us.  Wedding ceremony scripts have been written for years for brides and grooms. Now, bride and bride or groom and groom are very common. Some couples are choosing to forego traditional gender roles altogether and are using the terms spouse or partner. If you have made the choice to use non-traditional pronouns, please let us know, and we will be happy to honor your preferences.   Any wedding ceremony script can be changed to reflect those personal preferences.
